Anela Malik is a creator, speaker, and the author of American Soul: The Black History of Food in the United States (National Geographic, 2025), a two-time NAACP Image Awards–nominated book exploring the foundational role Black communities have played in shaping American cuisine.

A former U.S. diplomat turned storyteller and speaker, Anela explores culture, identity, and joy through deeply human, accessible work. She is also the host of Our Block, an independent food and travel series she successfully crowdfunded more than $65,000 for, and the founder of Unfiltered & Fed, a newsletter and global community spanning personal writing, luxe international group trips, and live events across the United States.
